Executive Committee Job Descriptions

President (Shared Position)– a spokesperson for the PTA who works closely with the school principal and staff; coordinates monthly PTA membership meetings and Board of Director meetings; prepares weekly email newsletter; works with committee chairs; attend PTA training; coordinates back-to-school event and information packets. Ideal skills/qualities: speaking in front of a group, leadership skills, diplomacy, organization, positive attitude.

Vice President (shared position) coordinates PTA fundraisers; assists with other PTA-sponsored events; helps establish fundraising goals for the year; attends monthly membership and Board of Directors meetings; attends annual PTA training. Ideal skills/qualities: able to work well with others, decision making skills, positive attitude, attention to detail, enthusiasm

Treasurer – Makes deposits at the bank; enters data related to PTA budget; issues checks; reconciles bank accounts; presents monthly budget updates at membership and Board of Directors meetings; attends annual training. Ideal skills/qualities: knowledge of QuickBooks, bookkeeping experience, attention to detail.

Secretary – Takes minutes at monthly membership meeting and monthly Board of Directors meeting; maintains minutes and document notebook; assists President with meeting schedule and notice to members; assists with keeping members informed; attends annual training. Ideal skills/qualities: good note taker, organization, working as part of a team, attention to detail.
