Why is it important to donate?
The Everett school district provides funding for basic educational needs across the different grade levels. Vital programs are funded through the generous contributions made by Cedar Wood families, community members and local businesses.
Over the last several years in addition to our regular programs we have been able to provide Cedar Wood with a new playground (2008), a rock climbing wall for the gym (2010), an electronic reader board (2013) and two classroom sets of Chromebooks (2014, 2015). As well as any additional classroom supplies that the district does not provide.
In addition to our major fundraiser, Whale Walk, there are several other ways to support our school year-round. When you shop a percentage of your purchase will be donated back to our PTA at no extra cost with Amazon, Fred Meyer, Bartell’s and the Box Tops App. Be sure to tell your friends and family about our rewards shopping.
Corporate Matching of Donations
Cedar Wood PTA’s EIN# is: 91-1521246.
Many employers match donations to schools and non-profit organizations such as PTA’s through donations to those organizations. Therefore, donations made to Cedar Wood Elementary School or Cedar Wood Elementary School PTA may qualify for that matching. This could greatly increase the amount of funding Cedar Wood receives. Some employers, including Microsoft, will also match recurring or one-time payroll deductions to school and non-profit organizations. Each employer has its own matching policy, so please check with your employer’s Human Resources Department for details.
For a list of some of the employers who match donations, please click here. For directions on how to submit corporate matching requests click here for Boeing Information. Microsoft and Boeing match donations of $25 or more.
Corporate Matching of Volunteer Hours
Some employers match your volunteer hours at schools and non-profit organizations such as PTA’s through donations to those organizations. Therefore, your employer might match your volunteer hours at Cedar Wood through donations to Cedar Wood Elementary School or Cedar Wood Elementary School PTA. This could greatly increase the amount of funding Cedar Wood receives. Each employer has its own volunteer hour matching policy, so please check with your employer’s Human Resources Department for details.
- Microsoft will make a donation after you volunteer 10 hours.
- Boeing will make a donation after you volunteer 25 hours.
Donations
Donations made directly to the Cedar Wood PTA are tax-deductible because it is a non-profit, 501-C3 organization. We will issue you a receipt for tax purposes upon request. Also, PTA receives 100% of all donations, whereas it receives a lesser percentage from other fundraisers. When making donations, check with your employer’s Human Resources Department to see if they will match your donation. There is often a minimum amount that they will match (for example, Microsoft and Boeing match donations of $25 or more). See ‘Corporate Matching of Donations’ section above for more information on how Corporate Matching could increase the amount of funding Cedar Wood receives and how to submit those requests.
Grants
The Cedar Wood PTA has established a grant process to make funds available to staff at Cedar Wood Elementary for activities and projects designed to “provide a positive, enriching environment where we live, learn, and grow peacefully together.” There are a number of grant opportunities available, especially for non-profit organizations. Local companies, foundations and other agencies offer grants. Please check with your employer to see if they offer grants. For more information, visit our Grants page.
