The Cedar Wood Elementary PTA helps to organize several after school enrichment programs for our students. They are offered on a first come, first served basis and are divided into two groups by coordinators. Please take a look at the below information for more details.
Spring 2018 Programs
PLEASE NOTE: These are private programs organized by our PTA. Sign ups and payments are done directly through each company providing the activity. The school or PTA cannot sign you up or take payments.
Introducing the Columbia Athletic Clubs Tennis Program • $132.36 (tax included)
Silver Lake Junior Tennis offers tennis and skills for life along with play based learning. Routines include; Sportsmanship, and Communication lessons, Athletic Enhancement, Fancy Footwork, Racket Skills, Learning the “ART of the RALLY”, Scoring and of course Tennis FUNdamentals.
Bricks for Kidz • $90* – scholarships available
*Students will take minifig home!
This is a hands-on class where students will design and build machines, catapults, pyramids, derby cars, buildings and other constructions out of LEGO® bricks. While exploring engineering, architecture and physics, students will develop problem solving and critical thinking skills. The theme for this session is Interesting Inventions.
TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY:
Art Wizards • $130
Art Wizards will spring into the new series of classes starting April 10th and 11th. Learn to use different mediums such as chalk and oil pastels, watercolors, pencils and markers. New students are welcome and we will have new projects for our returning students.
Lego Mindstorm Robotics • $200
During this course, students will discover how fun and creative it can be to program and engineer robots (often of their own design) to utilize the various sensors and motors. They will be learning Teamwork, Engineering, Programming, and Scientific Experimentation through lessons and challenges.
Chess Club • $130
Improve your problem-solving skills, your memory, think and plan ahead. Learn chess tactics, solve chess puzzles, play competitive and just-for-fun games! Workbooks and teaching materials are provided, just come ready to learn!
