Courageous Conversations Workshop

Monday, March 11, 2024
Monday, March 18, 2024
6:30-8PM
Zoom
Join community educator Courtney Wooten for a two-part interactive workshop on courageous conversations to build a community of belonging.

3/11 — In Part One, Courageous Conversations with Children, we will learn why it is important to build our stamina for uncomfortable topics and how to approach difficult dialogue. We’ll also explore resources for using children’s literature to broaden understanding and perspective.

3/18 — In Part Two, Building a Culture of Belonging, we will practice our courageous conversation skills as we navigate a framework of belonging. Together, we will explore the importance of diversity and dignity, understand how belonging is constructed—or destroyed—and identify areas of growth for ourselves and our community.

Participants are encouraged to register for and attend both sessions if possible. https://forms.office.com/r/ic1GpPyBtc

AquaSox Game Night!

Saturday, June 8, 2024
7PM
Funko Field
3900 Broadway, Everett, WA 98201

Save the date and plan to join your fellow Cedar Wood readers at the AquaSox game! Marvel night with fireworks.

It is time to get ready for baseball season with some fun reading! Our school is participating in a month-long program presented by the Everett AquaSox & Sound Transit that will motivate your child to become a Home Run Reader. Each classroom and student will have weekly reading goals. They will receive various prizes as they reach those goals. The students will be reading “around the bases” to reach home plate and will receive prizes for completing the program. One of the prizes will be a free ticket to an Everett AquaSox baseball game!

Each student received a tracking sheet. Parents, use this sheet to record the minutes or pages your child has read each night. We have indicated your child’s weekly goals. Return the form to school each week per your teacher’s instructions so that your teacher can track reading & prizes.

The tracking sheet can be downloaded here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GHBGXiVrwzkABM0dOVbyEiHrkT1Vy4kr/view?usp=sharing

Feel free to reach out to Jennifer Robertson at readathome@cedarwoodpta.org with any questions.
